Even as his eyes stared intently into the walls before him; noting the uneven surface casting shadows here and there from the candle light, the different tonnes of soft brown and grey. The situation he had blindly stumbled into wasn’t one he knew how to handle and he was clueless on what to do or how to act. As his mind scoured its pools of memory for answers to his predicament, he felt the warmth of the other’s light touch upon his hand. With that touch, a whisper of an answer skirted around his mind and he finally understood what was going on.

Tilting his head, he began to turn to face the other; he felt something collided into him, rocking him from his seated position upon the bed. “Urgh!” he groaned as he had the breath suddenly knocked out of him and he struggled to stop himself from being knocked backwards onto the bed. Regaining his balance, he whipped his head round and looked down at the other, mouth poised open ready to yell a string of curses at the other for catching him off guard, but no words came from him.

Blue eyes stared at the falling tears and the fragile figure of the albino who was now wrapped around him. At the sight, he instantly relaxed and his petty anger had finally subsided; his need to comfort the other taking priority. One day your gonna be the death of me Teo. Breathing a low sigh, he wrapped his arms around the other; resting his hand’s upon the white one’s lower back.

It was strange; all his life he’d feared contact with others and getting close to others. Always scared of being betrayed or loosing them; having lost both Jay and Selene supported this. Repeatedly, he’d told himself that he didn’t need friends, that he had no desire for a family and that he could not love. Even with Selene; he wasn’t the least bit ‘romantic’; all he felt was constant worry and the need to protect.

But in that moment, it felt right to have the albino wrapped within his arms. Although the hurt from when Teo had initially moved away from him was still there, he was comforted by the fact the other was now within his reach. One hand gently ran up and down along with others back in a repetitive, soothing motions; only stopping to wipe the tears from the albino before returning to the calming motion.

Cautiously, he lowered his head and rested it upon the other’s shoulder, blue eyes closing. “Shhh, you’re all right, oroka na ichi.” The words were whispered to a barely audible volume. “It’s okay, it’s over” he continued to sooth the other, “No one’s gonna harm you, you’re safe”. Shifting his head slightly, he nuzzled the white ones neck and returned to resting his head upon Teo’s shoulder. “Anata ha nidoto dare niyotte mo kigai o kuwae rare nai desho u. Watashi ga anata o aishi te iru node, soshite, anata o hogo suru desho u. Konkai, kanarazu.”

Although he may never speak the words so that the fragile albino would understand, that was the truth of the matter as he understood it; it was what he felt, what he believed and a promise to the other.
