+3Set in Borgata Tecolotl, mid-afternoon.

Salvia was, to say the least, thrilled.

She had been born in Anathema’s maze of caves, a dark place that while fun to explore, offered little beyond that. Since traveling west, past the fierce looking borders of the coyote clan, she had taken to this new land like a fish to water. Every day since coming here she had spent exploring, sometimes with others, but often alone. There were hardly any wolves this far west, and Sirius had assured her that no one could get past their borders without trouble. This, to Salvia, meant she was free to explore and do as she pleased.

Of course there were new rules, as always, but she was young and capable of learning them quickly. She had to respect her elders, especially Sirius, and she had to behave certain ways around certain people. Regardless, when she was alone she could do whatever suited her.

Her father had gone to look after the sheep, and while Salvia considered following him, she had instead turned east. There was an unmarked area where her father’s horse grazed, near what Salvia had come to know as buildings. She did not like the way they looked, rightly believing the rotting wood to be unsafe. Like her brother, Salvia trusted foundations of stone. However, it was not the buildings she had come to see but her father’s horse. He had mentioned that the mare was going to have a baby, and excited about this, the girl came to see. She was somewhat disappointed to find the palomino grazing idly. Of course, she could now see that there was more weight in the mare’s belly, which meant a baby was certainly on the way.

A noise from the greenery distracted her, and with bright eyes Salvia dropped to a hunter’s crouch. Cat-like, she stalked towards the source. It was a small rabbit, as of yet unaware of the wolves’ arrival. Salvia made certain he would not live to tell the tale. In a sudden burst of speed, she pounced on the poor thing and pinned it. A hellish scream came from the rabbit, but having heard such a thing before, Salvia snapped its neck with her weight. She hardly resembled a puppy anymore, but even she was barely done growing. Pandemic was much larger, but he was a boy and this was alright. She would never be as stocky as he was, for she was long-legged and thin in the waist. While there was no doubt she was a wolf, the faintest traces of her coyote heritage had come through in this leaner build.
