Ralla heard the girl's voice and was not surprised by its small volume. There was no confidence there, and Ralla thought it was more due to that and fear than submission. Just as well; Ralla didn't want to make her feel like she was being made to submit at that moment. Ralla gave another comforting smile to the girl as she accepted the spirit reading; more to ease her anxious aura, which would trouble the reading if continuous. "I only regret that you are made to bring it to life again," the white wolfess said as she placed a gentle hand on Aur's forehead, the place of spiritual entering for the moon, where she had her brand marked clearly.

"Tell me your story, please," she said, even though she knew it would be J'adore to tell it. "There are many tales which we would be happy to forget, but it is some who must consider a tribe's safety. We must be vigilant of newcomers, and you come farther than most with more at risk. We can grant safety from some things, but not all. So we ask you to put your faith in us that we may judge you, and help you." She said all this with an even voice, most of it implemented from the original chant of the reading, but formatted for the occasion. In Ralla's mind, she was in a dark space--devoid of light but for the pinpoints that marked J'adore's and Aur's souls, empty of sound, waiting for J'adore's voice to fill it, and missing of color, which would be filled by Aur's emotions once the story began.
