Golden eyes watched the older lupine carefully and she quieted down when he spoke again. His voice was friendly and soft, it had been from the start and it gave her a sense of security. On any other day, though, she might have been just a bit wary, for even the friendliest voice can belong to the most wicked. But, at the moment she was more focused on interpreting what he said rather than how he said it. She caught little bits and pieces of words and vowels and soon formed a rough understanding in her mind. He was giving his name and asking for hers.
“Verloren,” she replied, her name flowing off her tongue much smoother.
Her tail suddenly quickened in its beat as he leaned forward and sniffed her. Taking the opportunity she scooted forward with a happy whimper and sniffed the air around him. Carefully, she then put her paws up on his muzzle and eagerly sniffed his soft fur. Balancing further up on her hind she craned her head to sniff nearly every inch of his head. There was no doubt he was from a pack, but that wasn’t the scent she was sniffing for. She was more interested in the scents around his jowls than anything else. Another soft whimper escaped her throat as her mind momentarily switched to food.
However, she quickly sat back, unsure if she might have been overstepping her boundaries. Tail tucking against her haunches she looked up at him from under her brow.
