She wasn't even capable of helping calm down Mars as another wave of tension in her muscles overtook her. Instead of paying attention as the black-and-white male explained he was leaving, she tried to focus her mind on something less distasteful; reading, books, charcoal for writing. Even Nakzhi came to the forefront. The closed pink eyes didn't watch as the man left the room, though something in the back of her mind urged her to call for him. As another pup passed into the world — followed quickly by a third — she gathered enough momentary clear thought to tend to them; after managing to clean them up, if only a bit, she realized that much to her dismay, the second pup didn't breathe. Her distress was brief, as Mars came back and she found herself unwilling to show him. Hoping the ordeal was over, she tried to relax, glancing toward him as he remained near the door to the room. He seemed uncomfortable.
A brief nod was all he got in response from the woman as he asked to come closer. Faint instinct was what fueled her actions, carefully (and poorly) tending to the living pups with trembling hands. She didn't want to talk; for a moment, she didn't want to think, either. A heavy sigh escaped her as the larger of the two started to whine. Ignoring the discomfort the worn bed provided, she tried to sit in a more normal position, pale pink eyes staring absently at the drying balls of fluff. She had no idea what to do next.
