The large, healthy man seemed amused by the creatures who had come after them; a child and a woman, so seemingly unimpressive that they roused laughter. Of course, the Crone was not amused. She had long come to realize her capabilities as a warrior, and his mocking words caused her drive to prove herself to come forth. Her sling was loaded and fired with speed that could be surprising to many creatures; she aimed for his muzzle to shut him up. The man in the pit was of no use to the family, and her reddish eyes focused on the healthy man with a singular desire for control.

Bastion's words created vague interest in the woman; the way he handled himself was unusual, surely, for he spoke as a child and inflicted pain with such ease, but it seemed he had purpose in how he handled himself. The dark creature in the pit tried to explain, but Tlantli did not truly hear him. She was too focused, too interested, in eliminating the problem of the trespassers to hear their words.

While the Arbiter handled the dark, wounded thing, Tlantli stepped forward with all the grace of a gruff, small man. "You cahnnot go, poor boy. You haft ahlready pahssed the point aft no return." They had entered Salsola. And now they were doomed to remain.
