Smile Nice post!

Another agonisingly sunny day… Lucia had stuck around this area for a while now, drinking when the mood took her, and just wandering through her thoughts the rest of the time. Her ebony fur shimmered in the dancing sunlight, though her malachite orbs remained narrowed and cold. Despite the beautiful weather, this female was not in the best of moods… though, in all honesty, she rarely was anymore.

As her feet crushed the pine needles with each step, Lucia’s gaze darted from object to object. She was unsettled, unfocused. There was something on her mind. Every tree seemed to glare down at her; every whistle of the light breeze seemed to taunt her. It was as though all of Mother Nature had teamed up against her, and though Lucia was used to the feeling of being an outcast, this seemed a little unfair in her paranoid mind.

Wandering aimlessly had its charms. She would often come across places that nobody would stumble through for days at a time. The solitude was perfect for this damaged soul, for she did not do well in the company of others – often spiteful or angered, even if they had given her little reason to react that way. It was a side-effect, a product of a fractured mind, the seed of self-destruction. She pushed away kindness, disowned loyalty, and disregarded respect. The once friendly, helpful, caring female had been replaced, stolen by the pain in her life. The heartache, the destruction, the chaos. It had eaten her alive, and now, now she was blind to it. She recalled little of how she used to be, and in her mind, this was always how she had been… and in some macabre sense of thinking, she loved it.

It was whilst lost in her thoughts that Lucia stumbled onto somebody else’s quiet place. It almost seemed ironic. Watching another dark-furred female in the distance, Lucia could see herself in this female’s actions. She sat there silently, eyes travelling over her surroundings, lost in thought. Lucia would do the same if she was alone. But now, as per usual, something had intervened. She was not alone, and neither was her dark pelted, green-eyed companion.

Walking softly, almost trying to slip past the female unnoticed, Lucia thought she had got away with it. But her mind whispered the thought too soon. A loud crack ripped through the silence, it appeared that she had trodden on an unusually large pine needle. That or something amongst the trees had made the noise in her general direction. Oh, how Lucia hated feeling like it was all against her. The frustration was unbearable.

Grimacing, her lips curled around her pearly whites, Lucia turned her head back toward the stranger. It was not apparent if she had been noticed yet, but Lucia remained still nonetheless. Maybe she would blend into the shadows; maybe she would not be seen… the chances of that, however, were minimal. Nothing was ever on her side. Why would today be any different?
