Perhaps she didn’t want to go into the ruins but he was thankful that she at least obliged and followed him. He didn’t really want to get into an argument and be hurt if he didn’t need to be and honestly didn’t want to deal with the issues in case he got in trouble for fighting on pack lands. There really was no need for it really so he would avoid it at all costs. The arbiter was a higher rank than her even if it was only a by a little but she had known that when she approached him. Perhaps he was a bit on edge the way that he wanted to get into a place where they could talk without being spied on but it was that he wanted to come inside because on the outside there were too many scents, too many sounds that he wouldn’t have been able to focus securely on their conversation that even though those members of Salsola wouldn’t run their mouths surely, there might always be someone working from the outside, looking to memorize faces so that they would have a much harder time in getting a hold in the other packs. Perhaps though this was just paranoia setting in but one didn’t survive long in a situation like he had found himself without being cautious and being wary of anything and everything that even so much as breathed.

He didn’t mean for his words to come out so harsh and brittle sounding. The truth of the matter was that he didn’t have much in the way of good socialization skills and she just happened to bear the brunt of it. And of course it didn’t help that he was a male rough around the edges. So he really didn’t mean to chide her like she was some pup. Even he could tell that that wasn’t the case with her and looking up he saw the frown, making him wondering just what the other was thinking. It was not his intention and indeed he had a hard time figuring out what he had said. But then she seemed to smooth out her features even though the sharp scent of disapproval was still in the air. Perhaps he had offended her in some way? He would have to be careful from now on and he seemed to lower his head a little bit more. Even though he was of a higher rank she was older than him and in the pack, age and rank were both very important, all but evening out the odds perhaps in the playing field. He felt bad since it was something that he really should have been thinking of before but it was too late for him to take it back now and perhaps it was for the better that they just get down to working. If she hated him then she would not like him no matter what he did but he would still do his job to the best of his abilities.

Her words hit him and he gave a thoughtful sound with the words. English was one of those languages that he had picked up during his time of captivity because it was a simple language and yet one that not everyone knew because it was not the accepted language of the masses. Communicating with animals would be a good way to keep out of the way of enemy sensors, especially since he was gentle enough that animals tended to like him anyways. Perhaps they just sensed a kindred spirit in the man enough that they were okay with being around him, trusting him almost completely, a foolish thing by many other’s standards but they didn’t care. He gave a thoughtful sound. A bird would be even better but it would take time to get it to be used to both of them in order to find them since he was usually on the go and if she gained her own co-rank then she was going to be doing her own things and wouldn’t be able to be back at Salsola to have a bird that they took that would simply fly home later on. It would be easier though because then that would mean that they could communicate long distances. ”I am able to speak the lesser languages and I have been able to for a while now so that would work out for me. A bird would be helpful definitely. Do you have one in mind or would that be something that we would need to find?” He asked her, being consciously more careful of his words to keep them neutral and to hopefully keep her from really getting angry at him. He needed her as much as she needed him so he was going to try his best to make sure that this worked.
