IMPROMPTU TABLES WHEE
Sunki had been relaxing, tending to her brother's mate, bandaging her and brewing a calming tea out of bark. Before she could finish the brew, her brother had burst into their home and told them to pack. The look on his face and the scent that he carried motivated her to quickly pack up her few possessions; most of it was still in her saddlebags. She shoved her new found herbs into her bags and took her empty satchel around her neck. The rest of her things found their places in the bags the moment Sunki saddled Donoma with the cloth and bags. The horse was nervous, only slightly so, but she knew that it was important if they were fleeing in the middle of the night. Una was no where to be seen as they fled. Saqui had been tucked into her satchel and strapped to her chest so the young one wouldn't fall out.
The horses were pushed hard, especially since they had been roused from their nightly rest for a race from AniWaya. Nayati was angry and solemn; Liliana was hurting and quiet. Sunki did not bother saying anything. She focused on the ride and keeping the pup in her lap safe. Now and then the woman saw Una leaping along with them, between the trees. During their first rest, the woman tucked the pup between her as she lay on her side. She would have let her mother hold onto her, but Sunki insisted on holding onto her niece. She cooed at the child now and then to calm her, though her heart pounded with fear.
But when they arrived at the borders of the pack Nayati thought would shelter them. She stayed mounted on her horse, Saqui tight in her arms as she watched her brother give her a smile. It was confident, so the woman knew he was unhappy. There was no reason for a smile tonight. Not when her sister-in-law had been beaten and her brother was banished from the home he helped build.
