Escaping the patient room to get some fresh air was no longer a feat of Herculean proportion — it was easy to 'evade' the handsome healer when he was busy with other things, even though she found herself restricted to the area around the...'guest house'? The words he'd used to describe the area had been wholly unfamiliar to the pseudo-Egyptian woman, but she now knew more than she had when she first arrived. Inferni. This place was Inferni, home to a breed of small, non-wolves and non-jackals that she had never heard of before. Coyote. Coyote was not a word found in the vocabulary of the African fae, for coyotes were not seen in the region of her birth. Not natively, at least.
Inferni was very much a real world that still appeared to border the world of the dead that she had feared for so long. It reeked of death. The skulls warned outsiders of the coyote's purpose. As she ambled toward the borders, she paused to study the bleached bones that marked the death of so many...large canines. Wolves were not the same in her home as they were in this place, that was clear. Back home, back in Egypt, the skulls would have bore the shape more similar to a coyote. Smaller. These were giant craniums, so much larger than her own. What beasts were present in this new world? What monsters would she find if she explored the world beyond her perceived Duat?
She approached the outside world with caution, gazing upon the mountains in the distance with all the wonder of a mortal woman. The mountains offered comfort. They were safe in the shadows of the deified creation. The mountains. She exhaled and closed her eyes, taking in the presence of the rocky formation as her mind allowed itself to clear. It was peaceful. But what monsters awaited?
