He rolled over, blinking his eyes open slowly before he narrowed them, blinded temporarily by the morning light. The comfort of the skin had slightly worn as he tried to shift his bad leg, wondering if he should have even done that in the first place. It was sore, perhaps in need of medical attention, but by his knowledge, neither of them held such knowledge. Flicking his ears back uncomfortably, a low, soft groan escaped his lips as he sat up. A hand placed at the back of his neck. Being in Optime form when asleep was far from comfortable.

After a few blinks, he was used to the light and glanced around the camp. Wayne was already up, tending to the fire with a kettle starting to boil and some kind of meat while Dixie wasn’t in sight. The horses weren’t either. He took in a deep breath, trying to unclog his brain a bit. She must have taken the horses out somewhere. He could always ask Wayne, but instead, he gave the younger – yet larger – male a slow nod of his head. It was a greeting, nothing more. If he had to wait long, he might ask, but for now, he hesitantly started to stand.

The wound ached a bit, but the bandage was still in place. And from what he could tell, there wasn’t any blood yet. So, the wound should still be okay. Perhaps it was just the colder temperatures and sleeping on the ground in strange position that had left his muscles sore. He began to stretch them out, starting with his arms and shoulders and then, carefully on his uninjured leg. Plopping down near his bed spot just as three familiar shapes began to appear. He waved his hand, watching as Dixie hopped off of Duke and came over towards him.

She didn’t greet him with a ‘good morning’, but rather a ‘Mr. Thomas’ – which, undoubtedly made him feel old – and the fact they would get to training as soon as they get something in their stomach. His attention turned towards Wayne who passed over the dried meat he spied earlier to Dixie who, in return, handed a few pieces to him. After a good look at the meat, he dug in, ripping a good piece off of one of them. To his surprise, it didn’t really taste like anything. He finished his pieces as the off-white woman stood up and took his hand again. This time, he wasn’t terribly surprised. Yet, he was far from relaxed.

His tail tensed into a curl. They approached the chestnut male, Duke, first, and Dixie leaned down to grab a hand full of grass. She explained what it was for, Thom giving a nod where needed before slowly leaning down with a flinch, eying his bad leg for a moment. He grabbed a hand full of grass, took a step closer towards the horse from the side as he had been taught and mimicked the hand motion on a dirty spot to the right of his teacher. “Like this?” His ears flicked, a questioning expression curling on his facial features.

Hair, dirt and dust began to fall with each motion of his hand. It was quite interesting to watch, but also, something he wasn’t used to. With his free hand, he quickly covered his mouth, a cough slipped through his lips.
