world be damned and move forward

As much as it didn't seem like it (nor did anyone else seem to notice), Cassius was getting a little "advanced" in the age department. He was almost six years old, twice the age of some of the others when he was in Inferni. Cotl, the German mix he vividly could remember out of all the members (which was probably because of the accent. Or the tattoos. Or the swearing. Cass didn't even know anymore), had often mistaken Cass for someone younger than himself, which was actually not the case. Cass was not the oldest one though, which was a sigh of relief for the coyote male. He definitely didn't want to be the resident "senile old man", a role he left to the much older members of Inferni that had taken up residence there as well. Kaena Lykoi, who was one of the leaders at the time, was probably the oldest, but Cass could remember Gabriel de le Poer being around his own age, and possibly Anselm. Hybrid was a man Cassius never met, nor even spoke to at the meetings.

Cass had actually gone back south for a while, taking his own time away from the civilizations of the Nova Scotian packs. Back home in the bayous was how Cassius liked it, but there was an issue once he arrived. He tried to find his family, thinking his father and his cousin had gone back south after disappearing from Inferni. He searched his former home with nothing left of the inside, everything torn apart and ravaged. Cass tried to search around the area, seeing if they had moved anywhere nearby as if the current home they had wasn't good enough. He finally met up with an old family friend, who had to break the news that his mother had died and his father and cousin were nowhere to be found. He had taken it roughly, especially with news like that being broken by someone not as close as his own family, but the male had to suck it up, and so decided to stick around for only a short amount of time before heading back up north.

A resourceful man, Cass managed to pick up some tools and possessions up along the way to help himself out, seeing as he was growing in age and weakening slowly but surely. He found a compound crossbow, a more compact size, and a large amount of arrows with it. He was smart to reuse his arrows (since they were steel tipped) and so got to keep all of them but still find food for himself. Cass had a lot of rabbit sandwiches stuffed into his bag the whole trip. He had eventually made it though, simply resting himself under a large tree, which was (unbeknownst to him) right outside of a pack territory. His back was leaned against the trunk, his crossbow at one side and his bag at the other, his eyelids drooping with fatigue. His flannel waved slightly in the wind and his black short, which were worn at this time, were scuffed and stained from excessive use. He was at least less than a day's trip to Inferni, less than a day from what he referred to as a safe place for him.
