Teach Me to be Brave

Sadly, the privilege of dancing the fire dance had been stripped along with her rank, so Ralla found herself lacking in things to fill her free time--which was considerably less in these times. She filled the time where she once had fire-tending duties with gathering food where it could be found and...well, plotting, for lack of a better term. She tried to work out all the angles that they could use with as little casualties as possible.

That day she instead found herself up north where they had just held the meeting, letting the calming sound of the brook soothe her frayed nerves so that she might think more clearly. Everyone had been responsive and supportive, and Ayasha had her assignment. All they had to do now was wait...again. It seemed as if the whole fiasco was just a big waiting game, and even Ralla's patience was wearing thing. In her lap was her fire staff--just because she wasn't allowed to dance didn't mean she couldn't keep what was hers--and she let her fingers glide over the carvings etched into its uppermost layer. Shawchert had done an excellent job with the staff--from tip to end it swirled with fire, the deep maroon dye making it look as if it actually were aflame--and yet, despite its treatments, it remained strong like a true quarter-staff. The end, a hole going through the top there, where the lantern would normally go was empty for the moment, left at home on the shelf. Beneath her hands it felt alive, and how she yearned to use it--to dance again.

Moon walks. Moon talks. Moon thinks.
