She was just putting him down when he woke up again, a frown appearing on his muzzle as his eyes opened. Naniko had been sitting out on the front porch with Sirius as dusk approached, humming to him as they watched the sunset, and she had thought that he was all the way asleep when she'd gotten up to put him to bed. It seemed not, though. Somehow he'd stayed asleep the entire way up the stairs, through the creak of the bedroom door and the crinkling sound of the kid mattress.
"Ssshh...just go to sleep." She whispered, pulling a light blanket over the copper child. As soon as something was over him Sirius' eyes drooped shut again, and she breathed a light sigh of relief. He was usually the hardest to get to sleep, but she'd gotten lucky this time.
