She growled. Ataxia was a girl of few words as of yet - she was young and words were not always easy to form - but she enjoyed noises. All of them were still far from mastered (her howling attempts were more yips and squeaky croons than true howling) but it was the changes that interested her. From when she had first started to hear the noises that she made, they had already become different. Her mother's voice was different, her siblings' voices were different, her father's voice was different... only the young wolves had theirs fluctuating, though, changing into the way their voices would sound when they were adults. Intuitively, she knew that her voice would be a mellower, more effeminate version of her father's. Someday. Until that day, she would prefer the noises she could make which had no particular meaning.

Today she had a bone. It was not a particularly interesting bone when it boiled right down to it. The discarded remnant of a rabbit long ago eaten, its marrow already chewed and licked out so that there was no real value to it. Yet somehow, Ataxia had found herself interested in chewing on it further. She ground her tiny teeth against the bone, noticing that it didn't leave marks like her father and mother's teeth had. Sure, it probably did leave infantile scratches on the surface of the bone, but it wasn't what she wanted. This was why she had growled and it was why she growled again. Her white-frosted tail snapped back and forth like an agitated cat's; being a child meant she was weak in so many ways in which she was determined to be strong. Like most children, she eagerly aimed to grow up. Someday, Ataxia D'Angelo wanted to be just like her father and her mother; strong, enigmatic, and full of a zest that not all wolves possessed. There was a special spark that made them what they were instead of the more dull creatures of the world - slaves, for instance.

Someday, she too would do Salsola proud and produce her own heirs to the Family. For now, though, she kept chewing away. Determined to make her mark on the bone as she was determined to make her mark ont he world.
