get it on the floor, bring out the fire

While the driving instinct was to destroy this stranger-sister, Salvia obeyed the higher rules of Salsola and of Sirius. Children, especially this first litter, would be vital to the pack and its survival. So she made a face at the mention of the child being alone, briefly revealing a set of pearly white teeth to the crisp air. Her tongue told her what her nose already knew; autumn was fast approaching. She has grown up in winter and knew it would come soon. A true child of her season, Salvia longed for the days of silence and darkness.

She smiled, though it was a Chesire lie and did not meet her eyes. "Well you shouldn't be out alone," her voice softened to a rumbling purr, though she felt no warmth for the girl. "It's not always safe for little things like you." A threat? She had seen the dangers of the world. She had hunted the young and the weak and knew while no wolf would cross their borders, other threats remained. Her father had told her of eagles snatching children from cliffs in the Khalif, and her aunt echoed these stories. If a bird could kill a child, why not a cat, or a bear, or even the wilderness and terrain itself?
