She was malicious even now, despite the sticky-sweet tone of her voice. “You’re a clever girl, aren’t you?” This she did not lie about, pleased that the children at least knew of her. Intentionally, Salvia had avoided coming to her mother’s home since the birth. All girls, her brother had said. All threats to her dominance as the first-born, eldest daughter.
