Had it been any other situation, she would have found the Aquilia's snarling frightening. The adrenaline coursing through her veins seemed to override her fear, or perhaps it was the knowledge that his anger was not directed at her.

Alma saw his bow as the Aquilia picked it up, and briefly regretted that she did not think to bring her own when she went out of her cave that morning. She could not stay to ponder such regrets now, however. "Thisss way..." Making the assumption that he would follow, the coywolf turned her head in the direction of the beach and took off running.
