HIDE YOUR INNOCENCE BEFORE THEY SEE RIGHT THROUGH

It didn’t take too long for the revived fire to stir back to its former glory. After a few moments the initial block of wood was surrounded by the lively orange light. One by one Jackson fed the remaining logs into the pit and watched as the fire grew in intensity. A pleasant warmth radiated from the fire pit, causing a smile to spread to the boy’s lips. He sat back, cerulean gaze watching the pleasant flicker shapes before him for a few silent moments.

The relative quiet of the empty commons room came to an end a few minutes later. One of his unknown packmates soon joined him, tossing him a casual greeting as she came in. The Acidic sat up, gaze turning to examine the curvy woman. “Hey there,” he greeted in return. The dark-furred wolf was vaguely familiar, though Jackson knew they’d never been introduced. He’d probably passed her by before, but he couldn’t recall any specific instances. No big deal, really. She asked him if she could borrow the fire for a little cooking. Jackson nodded, eyeing the birds she carried with her. “Yeah, man, go for it. That’s what it’s there for.” Jackson waved idly toward the flames. It wouldn’t be doing much good just sitting there. It was nice to know that some of his work was good for some use.

YOU MUSTN'T DISAPPOINT THEM
