At the time, Cheke I had been on guard duty for the prisoners--but Wematin neither cared nor deigned to care, so long as someone was guarding them. This turned out to be a grave mistake, as the Guardian in question came running back to the Town Hall to find him, raising the alarm that the prisoner hut was being attacked. Wematin had snarled at the man, demanding why he had cowardly left the hut unguarded, but Cheke had only whined to him about a large amount of infiltrators--Cour des Miracles dogs--before Wematin pushed the man aside, leading Cheke and another four Guardians with him as they ran for the prisoner hut, telling any other Guardian or Warrior that passed by to join them. Cheke had better hope that they were still there; Maska would not be pleased.
It had appeared that they were just in time, the grey and black Guardian spotting the intruders at the hut entrance. Wematin snarled deep in his throat--a mix of a growl and a bark--before he leaped at the nearest Court dog, his other five going for the others. Though the Guardians outnumbered the Court dogs by at least one, other Guardians and Warriors would soon join, and they would be sorely outmatched. As it was, the interloper that Wematin was currently aiming for--a tan and sand-colored mutt--was being double-timed by him and Sekou, a new Guardian who rivaled Shadi in cruelty and viciousness, as the other Guardians each engaged another, some even entering the prisoner hut to defend their hostages (strange as that sounded). They would tear this mutt--who, in fact, smelled like an alpha--to pieces, if need be. Tip-toeing about the Dreamers had proven a mistake as well: Given this rare opportunity, why should Wematin not aim for their leader? Devastate them from the start, he thought as he aimed for the alleged King's throat as Sekou went for his hindquarters, both in Secui form.
