Donoma touched the woman's shoulder with gentle lips, rousing her from her tears. Touching the bridge of the mare's nose, Sunki rose as if in a stupor. She let the mare pull her up, as her support. She took a single glance at the body of Liliana, feeling fresh tears break through. It was not going to be easy, even if she had not known the woman as well as she ought to have. She was family, she was the mother of Utina children, of course she would be missed. Would Saqui and Kuruk even remember their mother? Would they remember what she had looked like before she left them? Sunki rushed from the horse's touch and away from the body to her brother standing a little ways away. The children were with him, which scared her more than anything. This was not something they should see. No one deserved to see their parents dead before their eyes.

"I'll take the tsuginisi, brother." Sunki managed to pull Kuruk out of the man's arms as Donoma approached them in her slow, easy gate. With her free hand, she rubbed at her eyes as she took Saqui from the man as well. He had to go to the woman in the grass, to be with her, and see her last. Though she had only been a priest in the Great Tribe, she could do what the bone priests did, and prepare the body for the voyage to the great beyond. She would not let anyone else do it. But what the question was, was what Nayati wanted to do with his mate's remains.
