In the brush, far away and downwind, Ralla hid as per Dawali's instructions. In the dead of night she waited for her cue to get to work, knowing that it was taking a lot of Dawali's will to go against the current authority. Despite her trust in him, he still believed that he had deserved all he had gotten. It was a bit painful, but Ralla could not change the man's perceptions, however much she might try, and would have to be--and was--satisfied that he was doing what he was then.

The parcel of food in her bag smelled inviting--fresh bread from the stores, filled with nuts--but she dared not partake of it for several reasons, all of which culminated to the plan. She watched as Dawali headed to the hut, her head kept low as she observed with emerald green eyes, and she waited a minute or so. The time seemed to drag on forever before she stood and began a casual walk towards the guard--a male named Armis Fulton. The man was intimidating at the best of times, and Ralla always avoided him--or any Guardian, for that matter--like the plague. But she was counting on several things in this endeavor--the lack of food, his hunger, and his trust to take things from strangers. He immediately caught site of the white mother as she approached, and since this would be her first time approaching the hut so easily, she could see his guard instantly go up. He demanded why she was there, but she only held out the parcel of food to him, saying that she was bringing him some dinner. He eyed the parcel and Ralla warily for a moment, sweat tingling at the back of her neck should he refuse; escape for Dawali and Anu would be impossible if Armis was still awake, and she didn't want to have to make a ruckus. Luckily, his hunger seemed to win out as he took the parcel and opened it. The strong scent of the nuts masked the earthy scent of the sleeping drought, and it was with much relief and joy that she saw him take a bite of the bread. The effects were by no means immediate, but the more he ate, the more his eyes drooped until he was practically sagging on the side of the hut. Finally the drug took complete hold on him until he had no idea what had just happened other than he had perhaps taken a sudden tired spell.

Peaking her head around the corner, Ralla saw Dawali working to free Anu, but she also saw the other prisoners, making her ears go back. Keeping someone in such conditions was just terrible, but there was only so much they could do undetected. As it was, Armis would certainly raise suspicions the next day that a prisoner had escaped while he was asleep, but Ralla had an alibi all planned out--she had indeed brought the Guardian food, but she was certain that she could get someone to vouch that she was elsewhere directly after, as if her visit had been more than the time it was actually taking. And if Maska tried convicting her, he would have no basis whatsoever--she had watched that she had stayed under his radar for quite a while now to ensure anonymity. "The coast's clear," she said to Dawali before she began her own watch to ensure that no one was coming. They were going to do this, even if it killed them--literally.
