Today had been a good day for Kostya. Hunting had been plentiful and he had bagged two decent sized deer in an hour, surprising the first with an arrow to the neck and the other as it flailed around in shock at teh firsts death. Satisfied with his efforts he had prepared and salted the meat and was now rewarding himself with a day off; namely lazing in the shade of a tree and dozing, listening to the gentle burble of a nearby stream.
Kostya was so sleepy that he only just noticed the smell that crept past his nose, a floral scent that was only odd in that there were no flowers anywhere nearby. Lifting his head and blinking sleepily he saw a pup running excitedly through the clearing, glancing backwards every now and then. The pup was wearing some odd skirt despite being not being old enough to shift, but other than that it didn't seem particularly alarming or extraordinary. Dismissing it as unimportant he shuffled backwards into the shadows a bit more and let his head fall back down onto his paws.
It was a few minutes later that the realised nobody had followed the pup.
Grumbling to himself Kostya pushed himself up and began following the scene trail. Ten minutes, and three detours when the pup had come across a patch of flowers, later he had caught up with the pup. He was sitting alone in a clearing, looking around him as though waiting. Moving slowly, so as to not startle the pup, Kostya made his way out of the trees, "What'sa pup like ya' doin' out 'ere?"
The pup looked up happily at him words and started to trot over to him, but didn't answer, causing Kostya to let out a sigh; this would have been much easier if the pup was able to talk. "C'mon then, lets see if we can find ya' parents." Raising his head to the sky Kostya howled, hoping that the pups parents would hear and respond, then he sat back and cocked his ears, listening for a reply.
