While the big horse’s gait was smooth enough, Ezekiel knew his chances to kill her with the bow had passed. Ignorant of the skulls that they trampled over, the Aquila and his mount took point after the coy-dog.
Another red-feathered arrow was drawn. While he was a master archer, no man could aim entirely accurately from a moving animal. Still, he drew back his bow and shot for the area where the woman would go. If he could strike her and have the arrow hit, then he would slow her down. A single, furious coyote-yap was given as an unspoken command to Cotl; the mustang was faster than his horse, and he was the one more likely to catch up to the stupid woman.
