He had done it again, making him a sad little boy indeed.

Severus trotted along through Dawn's Breath, ears lowered, tail brushing the ground behind him. He felt so terrible...he was a coward, not even wanting to stick around and see his mother's reaction. She would know who had done it, and it made him so very afraid to go back to their den. She would be so angry with him. It would not matter to his mother that the act had been done while he had been sleeping or that he had tried really, really hard not to drink any water before he'd gone to bed the night before. It would only matter that he had ruined another of the luxurious furs that they all slept on together in their bed.

The day was a cooler one, wind travelling through the pines of the forest and across his silver fur. He shivered occasionally but was warm enough for the most part, keeping his legs moving to stay heated. Severus wasn't certain of exactly where he was walking to, only caring that each step that he took carried him a little bit farther away from his mother. He had never gone out completely alone before, and this was a first, but so far he didn't think that the walk was going too badly.

White, puffy clouds rolled around in the sky overhead, and as his legs grew more tired the boy chose to stop for a moment to observe them. He scrambled up onto a large black boulder, finding it warm to the touch, and lay down on his back to watch the light clouds move by. There were a few that reminded him of certain shapes from his memories - he could see one that looked like Momma, one that looked like a mountain, and even one that reminded him a little bit of a fish. He sighed and closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the quiet and the warmth of the rock below him.
