Hey, sorry for the wait! I had most of this written down but didn't get to finish it until today. ▬▬ 500 words

These days a lot of the Cour des Miracles wolves were busy with the reconstruction of Lunenburg or hunting for the up-coming winter. When Liam wasn't practicing his healing techniques in preparation for his co-rank, he was helping out with those two tasks, depending on where he was needed the most. Today was a rare day where his limited knowledge on construction wasn't necessary and no one felt like going – or had the time to go – on a hunt. With a bored sigh, Liam kicked at a few pebbles on the ground. He was about a third of a mile away from the Cour des Miracles border, trailing along it to make sure that everything and everyone was safe. The weather was getting unbelievably chilly, especially at night. These last couple days he had woken up to find a layer of frost covering up the ground and leaves. Wet snow also had a tendency to fall during the night – and sometimes during the day – but none of it ever stuck. Not yet. December was coming soon and by the looks of it permanent snow was soon to follow.

Even now in the late morning hours Liam was feeling the northern winds occasionally whipping at his fur. His breath was coming out in puffs of white and childishly Liam experimented with the cloudy substance, making rings and swirls with his breath. The more he walked, the more he was growing bored and that was a way to entertain himself – sue him.

He took a few more steps before arriving at a puddle that was still frozen over. Liam, interested, walked closer and crouched down so that his hand could touch its cold surface. His claws scratched the ice momentarily, the lines left behind as though he had drawn them with a white pencil. He had only just gotten back to his feet when he remembered Caspa telling him about ice and how it could make even the most agile wolf fall over on his butt. It wasn't a very big patch of ice but the adventurous Catori boy wanted to see if Caspa's words were correct. He took a step and felt the cold ice below his padded foot. He put the other foot on the surface and let himself slide a few inches. It wasn't so hard.

He slid around the patch for a few moments and, cockily, he decided Caspa had been wrong. A wolf could stay steadily on both legs and not fall. He smirked and tried something a little more difficult. He raised a leg so that it was about half a foot in the air and tried to slide on one foot. Unfortunately he wasn't as good as he first anticipated. It only took a moment for him to lose his balance and moments later the ground was moving up towards him. He landed flat on his back and let out a groan. “Tricky S.O.B.” he mouthed, somewhat irritable now.
