indent He had been close, oh so close when he heard that cry. Gabriel felt his heart sink, knowing the only woman he trusted outside of his true family was leaving. It was at a quiet lope he came, four legs soft against the worn grass under his feet. All too soon, he found her. He heard her whisper, and moved forward, eyes clear and remarkably cloudy despite the empty look on his face. She knew him well enough to know he was upset. That this hurt him as much as it had the days he had sat on the edge of the forest and hoped, prayed, waited for any sign from his mother.
