The Eleventh Hour

It had been how long since her mother left home on the peacekeeping mission? Ayasha had stopped counting the minutes but knew that it was a couple of weeks. She had grown up in the weeks and months since Maska came and turned her world upside down. Her growing up was probably the only good thing he had done. Scratch that, it was the only positive thing the councilman had done.

Her patrols had picked back up again, despite having siblings to care for. Dichali was perfectly happy to watch them when J’adore couldn’t. Her uncle was in many ways a lifesaver. He had taught her to fight so she could keep herself safe and now he helped watch her brother and sister. The death of Ahiga was still tough on her and everyone else but there was little that she could do to change that, no matter how much she wished otherwise.

Her nose picked up the scent of what she assumed was a loner. It could be from another pack but she didn’t think it was. She was pretty sure that she knew the scents of most packs. Her blue eyes took in the wet stranger and could smell her mother on him. She also thought she recognized him but couldn’t place him. She gave a mental shrug and approached the wolf. ”Hello there, stranger. What brings you to AniWaya?”
