So far, Aemon's time spent near the borders had been only hindersome for Inferni. He had rescued another land's war refugee and taken him onto Inferni's grounds for treatment. Had he really been in a position to do that? Aemon had prayed on it since that day, and reassured himself that it had been his only option. Ezekiel had not brought it up yet, either, and Wolfgang seemed to be healing swiftly under Enkiel's care.
Still, he moved cautiously through the trees, doing well to keep hidden behind the shadows of the trees. He had finally finished his handmade spear, and carried it close to his body but poised as he paced. He did not want to pick up any more half-dead stragglers. Thankfully, the scent he picked up was a familiar one. Aemon stopped in his tracks to locate it, anticipation speeding his movement. Could it really be Ithiel? He hadn't expected him so soon, but his head flooded with relief at the thought. Aemon had been worried; despite the journey not being terribly difficult, his brother had been as inexperienced as he was about traveling at such length.
The monochrome coyote breathed a sigh as his head turned, ears pointed high, and he took off, darting through the trees. He was quick, and the scent was strong now. Aemon lingered for only a moment on the threshold of the visible piked border, hanging back from behind a tree to be sure it was none other. As soon as the sun moved enough to make his brother visible beside an auburn steed, Aemon rushed out to meet him. Ithiel! he called, pummeling into his brother with a bear hug and grinning broadly. You're here so soon! Thank God, he panted, his tail wagging visibly behind him. Where's Kastra? he asked, pausing now for a moment to consider it. The Tirones had been certain that Kastra would come with Ithiel, and his wagging slowed as his brows furrowed slightly in concern, large grin faltering slightly, dreading that something might have gone horribly wrong.
