Anything for a Smile

The day was a good day, he was clean, and X’y and he had pretty much done everything to solidify their mateship, less the ceremony itself. He had gone off after their pleasant morning, to do his normal routine, of checking the marks on the border, investigating any trespasses by unfamiliar scents, scoping out entrances through the mountains. He trekked along on four legs, nimbly navigating the Ichikan mountain ranges and trails that dot the landscape. This task was much more difficult than the former borders of Dahlia, where half of its border was covered by ocean. Saluce paid special attention to the trails that lead downward toward the plains that Inferni claimed, checking for any signs of coyote intrusion. Just because they now resided in a peaceful pack, having disbanded Dahlia he still didn’t trust them, nor would he ever. The demon pack was a scourge on the landscape, their hatred of wolves bordering on insanity and yet he paused, thinking of their eternal hatred. His pause didn’t last long as he headed west once more, the mountains there providing a barrier between them and Salsola, but there were a few hidden passages he sniffed around and inspected. No one would be able to come and go without his knowledge, and for that he was finally able to relax.

His form head down from the mountain ranges and headed back to X’yrin’s den, along the way he came across a herd of deer and taking the opportunity he hunted and killed a doe to bring home. Afterwards he had shifted back to two feet to carry his catch back home.

He reached her den and instantly his nose detected someone else, someone he knew and he couldn’t really comprehend why she was here. Saluce dropped the doe at the entrance of the den and started to crawl in, his nose instantly greeted with both of their scents in high doses in the confined space. He got the pecular feeling of being the intruder among the two women, his body stopped crawling, half inside half out as he looked around the surroundings, from Nayru to X’y. Obviously missing the reasoning why Nayru was here. Then his eyes noticed her stomach, the obvious bulge that had formed there right under his nose. His mind instantly went into overload, who the hell had gotten her pregnant, and why was he not here providing for her where two things instantly running through his mind. The first ran through his veins instantly, reacting much like the father he felt he was toward her. His Nayru had been knocked up, it was only a day or two ago she had been looking for a home, oh he was pissed that the father wasn’t around, or was but not doing his job.

‘When did this happen?” his voice broke his silence, forgetting the pleasantries of greeting everyone. His anger plain to read, “And who is responsible? And why are they not providing for you?”
