Hunger wasn’t at all what she intended to inquire about, but it was all she could think to utter when her lips refused to question what plagued her mind. Had she been any younger she would have no doubt thrown a tantrum for her tongue’s inability to form the words she truly wished to say. But given the circumstances, as her mind tried to rationalize, perhaps it was better she had failed. She had only just opened her home to the Lady… not need to ruin the welcome by pointing out the elephant that only she could see. Better it be left alone until the both of them grew used to each other and a level of comfort was established.

To Nayru’s reply, the golden female offered what she could make of a smile already rising to redeem preciously caught game from her private cache. But as she turned for the mouth of the den what light that filtered through was suddenly blocked by a massive form crawling further in. X’yrin needn’t ask who, the answer was plain by scent alone. Apprehensive froze her steps and raised her hackles to stand on end. Not even a moment to revel that the worry had been dispelled before it worked its way back into attention.

Hastily she skirted to the opposite wall of the den allowing him the means to pull himself into the common while at the same time granting herself the space to watch this scene unfold as it would. Her heart beat rampantly in her chest, nearly choking the air from her lungs as adrenaline surged allotting little to no time at all to take a breath. Her ears clamped down on her skull bracing herself for the worst that could possibly happen in this moment. Would she see the look of dread on his face? The recognition in Nayru’s eyes? An all out confession? She did not want to know… but needed to know. For the sake of her sanity she needed to know if there was any validity to her fears.

And then there was anger. She heard it through muffled ears that suddenly drew upright and were receptive. Obviously she had missed something. If anything she expected shame… perhaps even denial… but anger? “…What?”
