OOCOOCOOC!

Legba had been around less and less lately, and it worried Erzulie. The man of the cross roads had been there for her since the first time she had met him when she was only a few months old. The lwa had quickly become her closest friend, and had taught her so many lessons dire to survival. As she grew she learned of a power within all things that most of her pack family weren't even aware of. As she was slowly ushered into adulthood she began to understand this more and more. Some people were starting to treat her like she was crazy. Now that she still swore that the “fantasies” and “day dreams” she talked about as a pup were real they were starting to look at her cross eyed. Why? Why couldn't they understand?

Well for one she was the only one special enough to be friends with Legba. As a puppy she tried to get others to see him, but he would never let himself be seen. They wouldn't open their minds, they weren't ready. She knew she wasn't supposed to pity them for it, and with Legba's guidance she forgave them. He was with her, had chosen her, so they could be guided by her. It would all be okay.

Only, the little dolls she had learned to sew hadn't fallen within the pack's favor. Most didn't understand what they were for. “There's power in all things,” she said to herself, dejectedly. Her mother and father's love was no longer enough to satisfy her, and without Legba here for her she felt a supreme loneliness.

Erzulie sighed. Was there something wrong with her? Ever since she found her Optime form there were new things popping up all the time that she wasn't happy with. For one why was her belly so big when she watched everyone else with their slender bodies. Even her friends, the Moonsong girls, had shifted into beautiful women. She wondered if she was fat as a pup but everyone was just too nice to tell her. She found herself wishing for someone mean so perhaps she could have know she was going to be a fat girl.

Zulie stood up and stepped down off of her mother's porch. The drape she wore usually covered much of her body, but today she held it back and looked down at her belly. Usually she liked it, today she didn't. She didn't like anything when Legba wasn't around.

Sighing, she dropped the shawl and let it cover her again. Legba, where have you gone? What did I to offend you? She wanted to say the words out loud but she didn't. Begging the lwa to return to her would only delay the process. She signed and started walking down the street, destination unknown.
