Eris is by Kiri!

The open plains of the bay were becoming steadily yellow, losing their summer's greenery. The salty marshes were rarely verdant green, true enough, but they were losing whatever vigor they had in summer, clearly enough. They would have to harvest more of this switchgrass for their horses. Eris thought she might like a horse, but the dark woman hadn't the faintest idea how to care for them. Larkspur might help her, true enough, and Sirius, too, but the dark-furred woman did not like asking for help where such basics were concerned. She did not like appearing useless.

The shore had her attention now, and she traveled east from Salsola after crossing the river. The rocky shores were a favored place for Eris to visit. The ocean did not hold the same sway over her as it did her mother, but there was appreciation for the water within Eris nonetheless. A jetti darted out into the baywater, and the dark hybrid paused to peer at it curiously, wondering why she had never noticed it before. It might be submerged during the high tides -- this was one reason she might have missed its presence before.

As the dark hybrid approached, she saw the low-slung building on the shore, raised up above the tidelines by its docking. The building seemed in remarkably good shape -- its construction did not seem to have suffered much from the years, at least. More curiosity tingled within her, and the dark woman moved toward the building purposefully now, thinking her tingle of intuition was far, far more than simple curiosity. As the woman drew nearer, the wind brought a scent that blindsided her, causing her to freeze midstep.

She stood at the rear of the building a moment before moving to round its corner, pricking her ears to the hacking sound of a cough. Wretch? she yelped, pausing before completely rounding the building's corner. She was afraid of walking into a ghost. The dark hybrid had received no solatium for Wretch's disappearance, and she knew, if the girl was alive rather than dead, she would walk around that corner and see a stranger. More injury was poised above her, then. She sensed it with the same prickling tingle she had upon seeing that rock jetti and this house.
