Private; Dampwoods. Hope shorter posts are ok :3

A pair of dark figures departed from Halifax and into the thick of the forest at dusk. They moved silently and with purpose, communicating only through quick glances and slight nods. Barry and Axle had hunting together down to a science. After months of cooperative effort, they knew each other's strengths and weaknesses, routine tactics, and how each responded to the unexpected. Wordlessly they shifted strategies mid-attack. It was effective, but they still missed their mark three quarters of the time.

Patience and persistence drove them on. They'd already struck out twice tonight, but the third time proved a charm. Their pursuit carried them into the Dampwoods; promptly after they ate, Axle turned back toward the city. The mocha hybrid kept watch over the kill until Grit returned in the Rottweiler's place. They had this part down pat, too: at no time was Hilsburn or their hard-earned meal left unattended. For a motley crew of stoners, they were surprisingly efficient.

As usual, Grit came bearing treats. After a good chase and a hearty meal, Barry liked to unwind with a smoke. He assumed the bipedal form while his brindle companion chowed down. In the end they exchanged the usual banter over a joint — the hunters' first couple misses, what went down at the garage in Barry's absence, the weather, and so forth — then parted ways. Most times they would head back together, but tonight Barrett felt like wandering. It was crisp and clear, with countless stars dotting the heavens: a perfect night for a stroll.
