Helotes kept his eyes trained on one certain area of brush before them. He felt as if something was there, more likely a hare or badger trying to keep the two coyotes from noticing it. Helotes flicked an ear in annoyance at this, before turning back to Symera as she spoke. She called Halo “mother” and Kaena “grandmother”, so she must have been an adopted daughter. Helotes had no quarrel with this, she was a coyote and a strong one at that, no reason not to be accepted into the fold. He nodded as she explained that she had indeed killed the wolf herself and Helotes was duly impressed; he himself hadn’t killed his first until he had already passed yearling age, this girl had done it much sooner.
Giving her a grin he said, Impressive, you are indeed going to be a strong asset to Inferni, never let anyone tell you otherwise. I’m sure Kaena was very- Helotes words were cut short when the area he had been so intensely staring at earlier burst open in an expulsion of leaves, dirt and snow. Helotes yipped out in surprise, his teeth flashing but he was suddenly knocked backwards by an immense force and weight, he felt his breath leave him. He could feel the claws of whatever it was dig into his shoulders, before it jumped away, this was when wide umber eyes caught sight of it; an enormous wolf in secui form, and it was already upon Symera.
