Helotes struggled to catch his breath, he could always feel his chest bruising where the male at struck him. He watched with pin-prick pupils as the make set himself upon Symera, who true to her abilities did not back down, though she was but a third the wolf’s size. The male had her pinned, but she was a wiry one, like a snake attempted to slip from his grasp as she struck him in the face with her claws. The male cried out at the contact, but it just seemed to infuriate him more and Helotes watched, seemingly in slow motion, as enormous jaws made to clamp down on the young ones throat and snuff out her life.

It was then that Helotes felt his breath return to him, and like an inferno rose up from his back, a veritable roar escaping black lips, fangs flashing silver in the low light, and he jumped upon the wolf’s backside. Claws and teeth sunk deep into flesh, letting forth small fountains of red as Helotes clung to beast, which began to buck like a possessed stallion. Helotes held on, each jerk sending talons deeper past skin, past muscle. The wolf howled in pain, giving a large twist and sending the smaller coyote male flying off to the side. Helotes hit the ground with a sicken thud, the air once again forced from his aching lungs.

He tried to right himself then, wheezing, he lifted his upper body. His crimson stained mane hung in his eyes like a curtain, a curtain through which he watched as the insane wolf turned again to face Symera, who foolishly hadn’t run when given the chance. That girl had some fight in her, and she did not seem willing to back down, even in the face of such an adversary. Helotes began to ready himself for another attack, as he watched the giant come down upon the small coyote girl again. He was going to kill her if this didn’t end quickly!
