The Way We were Born
#3
The behemoth had been damning the day since he had woken up, to the painful shift he had endured to his present form to the thoughts that seemed to preoccupy his mate all day. He hadn’t been able to get her mind off the attack, and as much as he wanted to go forth and extinguish this person’s life from the world he was tied back at home. With Nayru and X’y he was stuck pretty much in Ichika, defending the homeland so to speak. But another thing that was eating at him was the recent pain he was having switching forms, something he had been keeping from everyone so far. It was a bit disheartening to him, having wondered what was bringing this whole episode on. But for now he’d keep it a secret hoping it would go away on its own.

Once they had set out on their hunt he had set himself mentally on those tasks, ignoring anything else, even an annoying scent that had been tickling his nose for the day. It hadn’t been until they were dragging their carcass back to the hibernal site that the pesky scent had once again filled his nostrils and brought about intriguing thoughts to his already addled mind. But those thoughts where quickly vanquished as she howled and he finished wrestling the elk into a suitable location. Carrying such a large beast had been a burden and on several occasions he had second guessed their choice in prey, so he sat rather tired, watched the others arrive.

As always he was silent, watching the arrivals, dipping his muzzle in greeting, too much on his mind for now to be social.
