In recent weeks, Sage had prepared for this day by spending most of her time in her lupus form. Four legs brought her closer to the ground, closer to the Mother Earth. She had forgotten how freeing and tactile this form was, it had been so long since she had shifted. Her earliest memories were of adventures in this form, but still she had felt clumsy. So Sage had practiced, and she had hunted. Despite her compassion for her prey, Sage was able to overcome her emotions in order to eat. Her sister, Clover, had become a vegetarian, she knew, but Sage couldn't give up the taste. It was instinctual, and she was not one to deny herself those instincts. The juicy pink blood that dripped from her own kills made her mouth water, pleased with her catches. Between untainted teeth of ivory she carried five limp-bodied waterfowl, each weighing a couple good pounds. She knew her offering would not be the biggest, but she had found this small colony of ducks, and they had been unafraid, easy prey, their senses perhaps slowed by the chill. It was a simple catch, but she was proud nonetheless; at least she was bringing something. There would probably be people who brought nothing, right?

Arrival to Dahlia Valley came faster than expected as she trotted briskly across the expansive, snow-laden lawn. Immediately, she realized with regret that one family had brought an entire deer carcass carried between their jowls. Golden eyes swerved, feeling silly with all of these birds stuffed in her mouth, until she found Xy'rin and Saluce. She moved forward, taking a place beside the others and dropping her offering at her feet. Tawny bush of a tail swayed happily, thumping once lightly on the hard-packed earth as she sat, happy and pleased (albeit a bit nervous) to be amongst her friends, her new family. "Namaste," she greeted cordially to the room as she glanced around, small smile curling her lips. She recognized the pale silver-blue woman (Rendall, was it?) from the hunt they had participated in a number of days before; she did adore those pretty feathers in her fur. There was sunlight in her eyes, too, as she watched the puppies play around them all, excited and happy little adorable kids. The Dai-In's smile broadened at their antics, happy to see that someone was not afraid to bring their puppies out for their packmates to see. Sage could count on one hand the number of times she'd encountered an Inferni puppy. They were precious gems, kept hidden away until they grew. She understood it, of course. Sage had loved spending time with Wraith, and she wondered how that little girl was growing now, if she was becoming a fearsome monster like her father had been. Hybrid had taught her so much, and Sage wondered how heart broken Wraith must have been at her father's death, how she could have been there, comforting the young girl. Sighing, her ears fell against her head, her thoughts bringing her into a more somber mood. Wide amber eyes gazed around, not recognizing any others, and keeping quiet and to herself. In Optime form, she may have spoken more freely, but in this form Sage felt particularly vulnerable just then. Her tail curled around her cool feet as she sat at attention, waiting for her superiors to speak.

Sage River Lykoi was still a bit nervous amongst these new Ichikan strangers, and after so long it was regrettably unsettling for her to be outnumbered by the larger lupus species. She noticed uncomfortably how they towered above her, and Saluce in particular had an immensely beastly size. Even in Optime form, the coyote woman was tiny compared to him. Still, she knew Nayru was just as small, and she lead Ichika. The tawny Lykoi took a few calming breaths, trying to convince herself that these wolves did not know of her past; she wasn't a traitor, really, was she? She had only done was was best for herself, and she was better for it; Sage didn't regret her decision, and she was happier than anything to be away from that place. Despite her discomfort, Sage knew she only needed to work at getting to know more of her packmates; they all seemed friendly enough, after all, and it was only her own self-consciousness holding her back. Pretty amber gaze fixed upon her leaders now as she waited, quietly anticipating their words, be they instructive, inspiring, or perhaps both.
