Budding Strangeness

Honrin's praise warmed Dalgina's heart. He often seemed distant, consumed with his own thoughts. Even though they were siblings, Dalgina sometimes felt that he was much older than her, as good as their
gjiskala
when it came to answering questions and solving stuff. Even better, he was curious about how it had been done. It wasn't often Dalgina was the one with answers, and she planned on making the most of it. Tail held high she marched over to the fireplace. Dragging out some more of the charcoal pieces she rolled them over.

She passed one to Honrin and began to explain, trying to sound very grown up and knowing. First, you have to squish it down. Dalgina demonstrated with what started as an exaggerated gesture and quickly degenerated into genuine effort. The charcoal collapsed, scattering pieces across. With the resulting dust Dalgina began drawing circles. Then you can take it and spread it around, and it makes a picture! She attempted drawing Honrin, forming a large circle for his head and a couple lines for ears. Another circle made the body, with a line for a tail and three dots for the eyes and nose. See? It's you!
