Dark Is the Sky

It was interesting, riding double on the horse. He hadn't ridden far on one before, so the soreness of his thighs from riding all day was a surprise to him. The nights they had spent in each others arms, making love, were beautiful, and magic. He had managed, with supreme force of will, to subdue the butterflies eternal entwinement of lust and blood. With Ayasha, his beloved, it was more than lust. Despite his rocky past, he loved her. He believed she could whisper the butterflies, the darkness away.

He watched as she slid off the horse. He followed suit, patting the horse's nose gently, offering it a handful of grain. He scratched it's nose as it munched the grain. Once he was done pampering his beloved's horse, he stepped to her side, sliding an arm around her shoulder. He was a little nervous; he had meant to come up here and visit before joining, but hadn't made it. So here he was now, standing at his woman's side.

He glanced at her, his eyes traveling down the chain to the ring he'd given her, a solid symbol of their mateship. A small smile tugged at his lips as he leaned over and kissed her gently. "We will be fine here, Kiddo. Things will get better from here." The reassuring words were as much for her as for him.
