He could feel himself slipping deeper into the memories that he hadn't thought of in so long. It was difficult for him, knowing that they'd chosen to leave. Unlike others who had lost their family to death, Saul knew that his family, barring Conor, were still alive. The fact that they chose to leave him was more difficult for him to grasp than the concept of their life unwillingly being taken. It often made him turn inwards, to look at himself to see what it was in him that had caused his brothers and sister, and his aunt and father for that matter, to leave him. A small part of his mind registered, and screamed at him constantly to stop, that he was wallowing in self pity and he should really just get over the fact that he was on his own. He still had Eclipse and Melee and Range, he still had Saluce, and now he had X'yrin and most importantly, he had Temeraire.

He almost didn't notice the autumn hued female standing until a scatter of snow pushed into his nose and he snorted softly. He looked up in time to see her hovering over him, a small kiss applied to his muzzle. Despite himself, he couldn't help the smile that raced over his lips as he leant back and looked up at her. He might not know her well, but Saul certainly felt he had learned a little more about what made X'yrin tick. She was a good woman and Saul was pleased that she and Saluce had found one another. "Thank you X'yrin... for listening and helping." He said softly, aiming a soft kiss to her nose before he took a deep breath and stood. Shaking the snow from the lower half of his body, he looked towards the deer carcass.

"Perhaps we should take this back to Wentworth and offer some to Nayru and Saluce? The rest of the pack are welcome to it after they've been fed."

He asked, before concentrating on his bones and muscles reknitting themselves once more. He felt his ascent and opened his eyes to stand on two feet once more. Careful not to disturb X'yrin's owl, he moved to scoop the dead deer from the snowy grounds. If they left it out here, the meat would freeze and it wouldn't be much use to anyone. With a soft look towards X'yrin, Saul set off towards home, hoping the female would follow him back.
