when the cowboy's away...

Sebastian's scowl lessened in intensity as the tall Labrador broke out into a smirk and spoke with less hostility. Good. Despite the difference in rank, Sebastian would have punched him in the jaw if the huge Lab had been any more threatening. Of course, he probably would have then been snapped like a twig if the golden male had gotten his hands on him, but it would have been worth it.

The artisan deigned not to respond to the comment about the pregnant horse. He short another scowl at the mare, who snorted at him challengingly. Guess that's why you're so fat, he insulted the mare in his mind.

"Mm-hmm." Sebastian glanced at the horse, still looking dissatisfied. Checking him out? The psychotic mare had been terrorising him. It was a savage, crazed beast. Sebastian still felt animosity burning away at the mare. It was possible that this could be the start of a domestic war. Horse and Luperci. Who would win? It would make a great sitcom.

Apparently Wayne noticed his resentment of the evil horse, telling him to "ease up." The cowboy was more eloquent and verbal than he'd supposed. He certainly spoke more than Sebastian had supposed the rednecky cowboy type did. Who knew, maybe he'd even have some poetic life-lesson that he would wisely reveal under a full moon, a piece of wheat in his mouth as grasshoppers chirped and-

Stop. Right there. Sebastian flicked his ear, aware that he had been staring at Wayne while indulged in his "Wise Cowboy Fantasy" moment. The lean artisan shook the strong hand, his slim hand completely hidden within Wayne's powerful grasp.

"Sebastian Auditore," he responded, not quite friendly but not rudely either. He was still somewhat frazzled by his recent trauma. When Wayne released him, Sebastian took a cautious step closer to the mare and observed it evenly, his hands clasped behind his back.

"Hello, Tupelo," he said with distrust, leaning slightly closer to the mare. Though still several feet away from it, Sebastian still jumped back in fright with a small squeak as the white-splattered mare snorted loudly and tossed its head powerfully. Though this was the correct response when faced with such a beast, Sebastian had jumped right back into Wayne's muscular abdomen.

Sebastian arched his head back, smiling sheepishly at the cowboy. "Sorry," he apologised, stepping to stand beside Wayne instead of pressed up against him. Even though that brief touch had sent the Italian's nymphomaniacal mind into all sorts of half-formed fantasied involving himself and the ruggedly handsome Lab. He would get on well with Hadley. Sebastian glanced down, apparently ashamed, when in reality he was hiding the faint grin he quickly wrestled down.
