With eyes afar and obviously deep in thought, Barrett's answer came later than expected. A substantial portion of his attention was already devoted to the livestock ahead and Lilin had to pry an answer out of him with a nudge of her elbow. That was when he explained his intention of purchasing the clucking creatures bouncing around in a merchant's pen. She couldn't understand the reasoning behind his intentions. Quite frankly, they looked useless and rather dumb. Perplexity overshadowed her curious expression, even more so when a woman's voice called out her landlord's name. He turned toward her and so did she: while Barry greeted her with a wag of his tail and a returned embrace, Lilin allowed her furrowed brows to tilt diagonally. She didn't recognize the woman's identity nor her scent, confirming the fact that she hadn't stopped by Hilsburn while Lilin had been present. Was this another of his conquests?

Her fingers wiggled in a little wave, returning the greeting in her own way. Compared to their visitor, Lilin was jagged and unpolished. When faced with the embodiment of elegance herself, the two-toned juvenile's manners only went so far. A statement was then vocalized in a foreign tongue, something she could not understand no matter how often the pronunciation replayed in her mind. It was not derived from latin, or so she assumed. Her comrade's gaze was met once more, this time with a sideway smirk. This little encounter was unexpected and quite entertaining. However, it became clear that Barrett would give her no acknowledgement of how close of a bond they shared.

Instead, he opted for the easy way out. After confirming the fact that they were indeed there for the trade, the male promptly excused himself as he saw another potential buyer approaching the merchant's livestock. She frowned then, suddenly feeling a little self-conscious. Mediterranean blue irises met the friendly female once more, noting the height differences between the two of them. “Are you looking to purchase anything in particular?” If Barrett wouldn't give her the information she sought, perhaps his lady-friend would.
