Amy smiled as she heard the shaky words. She'd hit a nerve, telling the truth. Amy truly believed that slaves had no feelings, worth little more than fulfilling someone's purpose. True, Hadley wasn't particularly ugly, and Selene had had a rough life. Meeting someone who would do whatever was asked of him would seem like love to someone so young. The heiress held herself so defiantly, a spark of what she could be capable of, but seemed so determined to refuse. It was senseless, a waste of everything the hybrid had.
She could hear as Selene spoke the shaky conviction. She truly believed what she was saying! Amy smiled at her, shaking her head softly. There are things out there worth more than a slave's life. Amy wished she knew how this trouble had started. She could have protected the poor female from the wrong impressions she had. The last words had Amy laughing. Happy? You don't even believe that yourself. No, I wouldn't say wealth, though that is preferable. I'm talking about someone who can protect you, help you continue the family so that it'll remain strong. Amy's own hands fell to her stomach, feeling the life inside there. So much rode on their lives.
