the sound of letting go

Relaxation. It was something that Jazper had thought impossible for a leader of a young pack and yet he was managing to find time to himself fairly often now. The members were all very independent but also knew how to get things done and support each other. It was reassuring to the Sole that he could take a couple of hours of his day simply walk along the shore without a care in the world. The water at this time of year was freezing so he dare not go to close to the tide and the waves that crashed towards the shore. It would only take a couple of minutes in the ice water to freeze. In the winter it was best to collect water and bring it into the Courthouse to warm up for washing, or travel to the hot springs, which were in the middle of Casa’s territory.

There was a soft layer of snow that crunched under his large feet every step he took. In the moment he was glad he had thought of wearing his bear fur cloak, as the wind coming off of the bay was quite chilly. His ears flicked at the sound of the waves movement followed by the crash as they hit ground, rock or more water. Golden eyes scanned the shoreline lazily and did a double take at a strange lump further north. Most likely it was just an odd collection of snow, but his trained eyes could not ignore the yellowish tint mixed into the soft white. Curious the Sole made his way slowly closer, eyes shifting from the lump to the water unaware of what he was about to find.

Drawing closer his heart began to pound and his eyes squinted. ‘A wolf?’ he thought with a panic, feet quickly picking up speed as he neared the body. The white lady was in lupus form but from the yellow streak down her back had the warrior at her side in a second. “Tayui?!” He questioned, unsure of the wolf’s identity himself. Cupping her head in a giant hand he checked for the scar he was sure to find across her right eye. Sure enough this was the snowy alphess who had taken him into her pack when he was just a youngling.

She was badly injured, this he knew well enough but the Sole did not know much about medicine and had no supplies on him. Acting quickly he picked her up gently, moving away from the tides and pulling his cloak off awkwardly in one hand. Tayui was not a small lady but in her lupus form he was able to slip the cloak onto the ground, kicking it with his feet to spread it like a blanket. Finally he placed her down, wrapping her before lifting the loner again off the ground with his strong arms. Pulling her in close to his chest he hoped that the warmth would help. Strong legs began to jog in the direction where he knew he oculd find Regner, he would be able to help him far better than himself. “Hold on Tayui. Just keep breathing.” He pleaded, his feet moving as fast as his mass would allow.
