Ithiel is by Kitty!

Ithiel was already underway toward the location of the stranger -- his blood, he'd soon learn -- when the howl rang out. Zedekiah had alerted him to the approach of a canine, his hissing and low voice proclaiming her fur to be "night" in coloration. Ithiel had therefore mounted Lystra -- whom he'd received back from Myrika in a much calmer state, though fire still flared in her veins on occasion -- and started out toward the border immediately, thinking a canine of such dark coloration could only be one thing: wolf.

As the dust-colored man drew closer, however, he tilted his head into the wind and inhaled sharply, scenting something that smelled not a bit like wolf at all. It smelled like the rest of his family, and he pulled gently on the reins, drawing Lystra to a stop for a moment. The chestnut horse stomped her foot and shook her head, but she did not seek to keep going and defy him. Surprised, the man reached out and stroked her shoulder appreciatively. The horse quivered beneath his touch, a reaction the dust-colored coyote found altogether strange.

Ithiel was not one to become easily distracted, however, and the dark coyote moved on quickly enough. As they drew nearer, however, Lystra gave a frightened shriek, tossing her head with the sight of the snake. Ithiel, rather than fight her for control as he usually did, allowed her to pitch her fit while murmuring wordless soothing to her, stroking at her neck. She half-reared, stamped both feet into the dust, and stilled, though the chestnut mare looked at the dark woman's snake with fear showing in the whites of her eyes.

Another Lykoi, come home? he inquired, noting to the red star she bore on her flexuous and womanly figure. He did not have such a mark, but then again -- perhaps he was not truly a Lykoi.
