“Remember that your oath to Inferni is your bond,” he echoed, red ears high atop his head like a bloodied crown. “I expect you to be prepared to serve as all others do.” Satisfied, he gave his half-brother a nod, pausing only to look over the dark girl once more. He considered warning her about Enkiel’s fearsome temperament, but decided against it. His paws turned lightly, took him to another small, worn trail, and carried him back to the patrol he now intended to finish.
