They were mounted and Salvia had the rope for the llamas grasped in one hand. Her horse snorted in confusion, but the girl knew how to ride and knew a horse would respond to a rider without fear. She kept her emotions controlled even as the stallion continued to make noise, continued to put them in danger. A glance back confirmed that Magnolia was mounted, and TaeKyung was prepared to move. She urged the party on quickly, but did not run for fear of the horses loosing footing in the dark.
Unfortunately, she could not prepare for everything. Something spooked the horse following them—some night beast or bird that Salvia did not see—and it gave a great cry, rearing in panic. Salvia heard Magnolia call out, but she was too far gone. Figures were already encroaching and her orders had been to get in and get out. Panicked, she made a split decision and chose to obey her orders and continue on. The horse was urged forward as its companion rushed on, and Salvia quickened her pace to follow it. The downward slope of the mountain would prove difficult, but they had to reach it quickly.
