The moment he spoke her name, her heart melted. He remembers, she thought fondly, smiling down at the boy. He was a welcome distraction from the displacement she was feeling in Ichika, and perhaps he was even a friend to help ease her loneliness. She would not assume that yet, though. His memories of her may have been pleasant, but there was no telling what sorts of things Ezekiel had told the clan regarding her exile.
Lennon snorted a heavy breath as the hybrid took a step closer, but Sage steadied him with a hand. Her steed knew the dangers of the Inferni scent as well as she did now, and he took precautions just the same. They weren't needed now, though; the pair was far enough from claimed land, and she hoped that there would be no quarrel between them. Sliding down from her cream-painted stallion, she dismissed him with a firm pat on one flank. Habitually, Lennon moved off to graze, but his wide brown eyes kept watch on his master and her company. "My, you've grown," she commented as she moved forward to meet him, her voice unintentionally motherly. "Ezekiel has done well by you," she noted, forcing herself not to choke on the name. Max had grown strong under his tutelage, and he looked strong and athletic. Like a warrior, she observed. "How have you been?" Sage didn't know where to start. She wanted to ask questions, but wasn't sure if she should. If Ezekiel knew of Max's meeting with her... The Ichikan hoped that he would respond with civility, but in the past those hopes had failed. She swallowed hard, but her own tail swayed behind her, content to be in familiar company, while it was still pleasant.
