The Last Supper

Eris is by Kiri, a gift from Sylvey!

The dark colored woman watched the procession of her Salsolians. They filtered into the sacred place in pairs and alone, all of them seeming to glow with the energy that radiated from all of Salsola. The dark woman could see no colors in the world tonight -- she was sober as of yet, having taken nothing prior to this feast and having imbibed no liquor yet. She did not need her substances to sense such things as the Salsolian group's gathered power. Even one dead in their heart and soul could see it, she thought. The woman's eyes passed from one to another, and at one point, she became aware of a settling in the room, a slow drop in the volume of noise. When it was altogether silent, she looked at Sirius, no hint of expectancy on her face. The man spoke when he was ready, and she was not one to prompt him.

The strong and flowing speech of their Boss reached her ears, and she listened intently as he spoke, taking note of all he chose to announce to the group. The previous Last Supper had not been a good one for Eris, but this was understandable, given her state -- Basilaris had been born just the next night. His presence in her womb had been entirely unbeknownst to Eris prior to that point, and she had attributed her state to illness. Now, she was strong again, and Basilaris was growing. Everything about him was strength and beauty, and she could hardly wait to behold his adult glory.

When their leader had ceased speaking, the hybrid offered him a coy smile and inclined her head, silently thanking him for her turn to speak. Our dear Confidant Odessa has embarked on the construction of a medical clinic for us. Perhaps we'll hear an update from her on the project, she said, beaming toward her niece. For myself, I have been working on a special gift to Salsola, she said, her grin broadening. The river that makes our eastern border -- it has many creeks and streams. One of these, one well within our territory, now has a fishing weir. We'll have a plentiful and constant source of fish from now on. Should anyone wish to learn how to operate the netting and capture large amounts of fish at once, I can show you. Otherwise, the creek should be stocked with fish. The low tide traps them, and many will simply remain upstream.

When her self-inflating gloating was finished and she could natter no more about her own contribution, the woman began with the pack's jobs: We have many serving new roles within Salsola, as well. Odessa has bested us all, and earned the Mietitore job -- she is first to hold two. Siv has earned the right to call herself Signorina, and will serve us well. Salvia shall follow her father's lead and serve as our Ganadera. These were the important members of the pack, but there were still more: the slaves, while lesser, still needed their roles publicized. Salvia's attendant slave, Yi TaeKyung, serves us as the Slave of the Flame, while Odessa's slave, Novak Rubens, is now our Slave of the Thorn. The coyote thought a moment, and smiled again, nodding her head. Will anyone speak? she said, smiling. I believe Odessa has something other than the clinic to speak of. Or perhaps Imhotep would give us his voice, wonderfully-spiced as it is? The woman's chartreuse eyes glittered as she looked at one and then the other.
